Notwithstanding the immense amount of attention which has been directed in a broad general way to mind and
its action, and although the constructive and creative ability of mind through thinking has been so long and so
universally acknowledged, yet we are just now beginning to recognize the close and direct personal relation
which thinking bears to man. The limits of the power of mind have never been clearly perceived, but recognition
of their extent continually enlarges as knowledge and understanding increase.
The differences between ignorant and enlightened, between savage and civilized, between brute and man, are all
due to mind and its action. All the multifarious customs and habits of mankind, whether simple or complex,
though often attributed to other causes, are, from first to last, the direct results of thinking. The unwritten history
of the evolution of clothing, from its rude beginnings in the far-distant and forgotten past through all the ages
since man first inhabited the earth, though at first glance seemingly simple, yet, as a whole, is wonderfully
complex and astonishing in its particulars. Its story is only the story of the application of mind to the solution of
a single one of the vast multitude of problems connected with human requirements.

It is true that our factories and palaces, our temples and our homes, are built of earthly material, but mind
directed their fashioning into the vast multitude of forms, more or less beautiful, so lavishly displayed by
architecture in city and country. The multitudinous products of constructive art which are scattered in lavish
profusion over the whole earth are marvelous exhibitions of what mind has done; and these are being multiplied
daily,
All the mechanical triumphs of every age are products of mental effort. Without these men would be in the
condition of the animals. It has been said that he owes his supremacy over the lower creatures to his ability to
construct and use tools, but this also depends entirely on his superior ability to think. The steam engine is one of
these tools; and the story of its creation and of the vast amount of mental effort which has contributed to its
evolution can be written only in its larger parts because of the amount of time that has been expended upon it,
the magnitude of the work, and the minuteness and complexity of its details.
In the domain of the fine arts more than elsewhere the creations are intimately connected with mental action and
are distinctly marked as products of mind. Music, vocal and instrumental, the single singer or the multitude in
the chorus, the one instrument or the great orchestra, the country boy whistling among the woods and hills or the
grand opera in magnificent halls -- music everywhere, in all its varieties and types, is a product of mental activity
and is a most subtle as well as most powerful expression of the mind of the composer. The dreams of the
sculptor which have been revealed in marble, those of the painter in the figures on his canvas, the beautiful in all
artistic creations or expressions, are the direct result of the finest thinking of the finest minds. What a world of
them there is in existence! Yet the crumbling ruins of the past point to greater worlds of them which have been
destroyed by man and time.
Even a yet more important product of mind is the literature of the world; in quantity, overwhelming; in variety,
bewildering; in quality, whether ancient or modern, such as to excite the interest wonder and admiration. There
is no greater monument to the mind of man than the things which that mind has produced in science, philosophy,
religion, and letters. This has grown like those ancient monuments to which every passer-by added a stone, and it
will continue to grow so long as the human race exists.
Civilization with all that the word implies in every one of its unnumbered phases, its origin, continuance,
progress, and present condition, is directly and exclusively a product of mind; and man owes to mind and its
action all there is in the external world except the earth and its natural products. All religious, political, and
social organisms have their root in mind, and they have assumed their present forms in consequence of the
profoundest thinking of untold generations of men. To the same source man owes his own position, which is
superior to all else on the earth and “only a little lower than the angels."
Notwithstanding the recognition of all these facts, it has remained for the scientific men of the present day,
through their own intellectual attainments and discoveries, to enlarge immensely upon this recognition and to
show the complete supremacy and universality of mind in another domain. The horizon is rapidly widening in
the direction of the mind's relation to man himself; and, as a result of the more recent discovery of facts, man is
beholding undreamed of possibilities which he may achieve through his own mental control. From the vantage
ground already gained, mental and moral possibilities are rising to view in the near distance beside which the
attainments of this and all past ages shrink into insignificance.
Only in these more recent years has it been clearly perceived that mind action is first in the order of occurrence,
and that it is the absolute ruler of man himself as well as of all these wonderful works which mind has created.
Mind is the motor power and governs everything, everywhere; but man can control mind, and therefore, by that
control, he may be the imperious dictator of his mind's entire course, and, rising thence to the highest pinnacle of
possibility, he may become the arbiter of destiny itself.

" Who Do You Think You Are ?"

Who do you think you are ?
As you read this story about a lost cub,see if you need to find
your true self.Now,go ahead and read the story.
A cub lion, as the fable runs, was one day playing alone in
the forest while his mother slept. As the different objects
attracted his attention, the cub thought he would explore
a bit and see what the great world beyond his home was
like. Before he realized it, he had wandered so far that he
could not find his way back. " He was lost."
Very much frightened, the cub ran frantically in every
direction calling piteously for his mother, but no mother
responded. Weary with his wanderings, he did not know
what to do, when a sheep, whose offspring had been
taken from her, hearing his pitiful cries, made friends with
the lost cub, and adopted him.
The sheep became very fond of her foundling, which in a
short while grew so much larger than herself that at times
she was almost afraid of it. Often, too, she would detect a
strange, far-off look in its eyes which she could not
understand.
The foster mother and her adopted lived very happily
together, until one day a magnificent lion appeared,
sharply outlined against the sky, on the top of an opposite
hill. He shook his tawny mane and uttered a terrific roar,
which echoed through the hills. The sheep mother stood
trembling, paralyzed with fear. But the moment this
strange sound reached his ears, the lion cub listened as
though spellbound, and a strange feeling which he had
never before experienced surged through his being until
he was all a-quiver.
The lion’s roar had " touched a chord " in his nature that had
never before been touched. It aroused a new force within
him which he had never felt before. New desires, a
strange new consciousness of power possessed him." A
new nature stirred in him," and instinctively, without a
thought of what he was doing, he answered the lion’s call
with a corresponding roar.
Trembling with mingled fear, surprise and bewilderment
at the new powers aroused within him, the " awakened "
animal gave his foster mother a pathetic glance, and
then, with a tremendous leap, started toward the lion on
the hill.
" The lost lion had found himself." Up to this he had
gamboled around his sheep mother just as though he
were a lamb developing into a sheep, never dreaming he
could do anything that his companions could not do, or
that he had any more strength than the ordinary sheep.
He never imagined that there was within him a power
which would strike terror to the beasts of the jungle. He
simply thought he was a sheep, and would run at the
sight of a dog and tremble at the howl of a wolf. Now he
was amazed to see the dogs, the wolves, and other
animals which formerly had so terrified him flee from him.
" As long as this lion thought he was a sheep," he was as
timid and retiring as a sheep; he had only a sheep’s
strength and a sheep’s courage, and by no possibility
could he have exerted the strength of a lion. If such a
thing had been suggested to him he would have said,
“How could I exert the strength of a lion? I am only a
sheep, and just like other sheep. I cannot do what they
cannot do.” But when the lion was aroused in him,
"instantly he became a new creature," king of the forest,
with no rivals save the tiger and the panther. This
discovery doubled, trebled and quadrupled his conscious
power, a power which it would not have been possible for
him to exert a minute before he had heard the lion’s roar.
But for the roar of the lion on the distant hill, which had
aroused the " sleeping lion within him," he would have
continued living the life of a sheep and perhaps would
never have known that there was a lion in him. The roar
of the lion had not added anything to his strength,had
not put new power into him; it had merely aroused in him
what was already there, simply revealed to him the power
he already possessed. Never again, after such a startling
discovery, could this young animal be satisfied to "live a
sheep’s life." A lion’s life, a lion’s liberty, a lion’s power,
the jungle thereafter for him.
There is in every normal human being a sleeping lion. It is
just a question of arousing it, just a question of
something happening that will awaken us, stir the depths
of our being, and arouse the sleeping power within us.
Just as the young lion, after it had once discovered that it
was a lion would never again be satisfied to live the life of
a sheep, when we discover that we " are more than mere
clay," when we at last become conscious that we " are more
than human," that we " are gods in the making," we shall
never again be satisfied to live the life of common clods of
earth. We shall feel a new sense of power welling up
within us, a power which we never before dreamed we
possessed, and never be quite the same again, never
again be content with low-flying ideals, with a cheap
success. Ever after we will aspire. We will look up;
struggle up and on to higher and ever higher planes.
Phillips Brooks used to say that after a man has once
discovered that he has been living but a half life the other
half will haunt him until he releases it, and he never again
will be content to live a half life. When one becomes
conscious that the reality of them, that the truth of their
being is God, that they are indissolubly connected with
omnipotent power, they feel the thrill of divine force
surging through every atom of their being, and can never
doubt their divinity or possibilities again. They can never
again be timid, weak, hesitating or fearful. They rest
serenely conscious that they are in close touch, in vital
union, with the Infinite. They feel omnipotent power
pulsating through their very being, they feel the
omnipotent arm sustaining, upholding them, and they
know that their mission on earth is divinely planned and
divinely protected.
Many a poor child has grown up in the slums believing
that they were like all the other children in their
neighborhood, that there was no special future for them,
nothing distinctive, nothing out of the dead level of their
monotonous environment; but something unexpectedly
happens, some emergency, some catastrophe, something
which makes a tremendous call upon the great within of
themselves, and they are suddenly surprised to discover
that they are different altogether from those about them.
Something has touched them, something in them have
been aroused, something which shows them that they
have a tremendous latent power which they did not
before know they possessed, and they unhesitatingly
answer the call. They go out into the great world, and are
never again satisfied with " a cheap success," never again
satisfied with their old nature or content with their old
environment.
Again,I ask," Who do you think you are ?

one of these parts - and you're left with a shocked,staggering organization.How many once large companies and trade names can you think of which became giants - then disappeared entirely from the economic scene ? Names which once were
leaders in there fields and are now only memories.They failed to KEEP IN BALANCE these three crucial functions.
What about research for your personal corporation ? Research can be said to exist in two areas- present and future.That is,
the Research of a company should be devoted to ways and means of improving its present products - or services -present
production - and present Sales.Future Research is concerned with ways and means of developing new products and services
- new methods of production - and new methods of marketing.But,while this Research is going on,present production must
continue at as high a level as Sales warrant.
In short,a corporation - your corporation - has two factors to consider : the present and the future.How successful we are in

more WITHIN THIRTY DAYS ! Our files are filled with reports from people who exceeded their previous performance to an
almost unbelievable extent.People in management and in Production who multiplied their effectiveness many times.Students
who moved from failing grades to straight A's and the Dean's list.People in Sales who found they could,through the proper
management of their abilities,minds and time - sell as much of their company's products in a single month as they had

You see,a person has a tremendous advantage over even the largest corporation.Think of any large corporation.Can it dou-
ble it's Production in a single day ? NO - Can it double its Sales in a single day ? NO - It would like to,but its growth must be
a gradual,steady thing,because of the interconnecting complexities of operating so large an organization.Yet,a person can
DOUBLE,TRIPLE,QUADRUPLE their effectiveness IN A MONTH OR LESS.It's like comparing the movement of a single
scout to the movement of a great army.
How have you been handling the three vital functions of your Business : Research, Production, and Sales ? How much
time and effort are you giving to RESEARCH - to the study of your work(business),your career ? Can this be improved ? And
what about PRODUCTION ? Is there a way in which you can vastly improve the way in which you conduct your Business(work)?
And SALES - how can that be improved ? SALES is morethan selling a product or service : it's the way in which we sell ourselves to everyone with whom we come in contact.It's the way we get along with our associates,wives,children,and

If I Can Help Somebody

I can remember hearing these words,while
listening to Martin L. King Jr. In his speech he said," if I can
help somebody,then my living will not be in vain. Now as I get
closer to the four and three(age 43), I find myself thinking these
same words," if I can help somebody ",then my living will not be
in vain. You see,I found out that it's not even about me.I guess it
never was.It's about lifting up the name of Jesus and helping
somebody.If you can do these two things,then your living won't be
in vain.I know it sounds so easy,but we got to remember that the
world is teaching us to only look out for self.Also,as you will find out.
Everybody doesn't seem to even want any help.
My Dad has a saying that has grown on me.He says,"the only
thing worst than being ignorant,is being ignorant and not knowing it!"
When you think about it,many times we are guilty of being ignorant
and not even knowing it.
This is why it's so important for us to help somebody.When we help
somebody, we give them hope.Since they now have hope,they can give
hope to somebody. A wise person once said;" you can have everything
you want,if you will just help enough people to get what they want."

Where Do You Draw Your Strength ?

Where do you draw your strength?
The reason I'm asking this question is because it's important to identify
the sources of your strength.Once you're able to locate them,you will be able
to utilize your sources of strength better.Futhermore,they will become tools
to help you fix your life.
You see,we tend to draw strength from God,other people,and other things.
However,we have to learn to harness this power.We need to recognize exactly how
we can use our sources of strength.
Write down 3 to 5 sources that you draw strength from.Once you write them down,
read them three times a day.They will help inspire and strengthen you,as you
strive to reach your goals.

Doubts and Fears

Do you know that your mind can get viruses?
I'm not talking about the medical viruses.I'm talking
about viruses such as doubt and fear.The sad thing about
these viruses is,they often go unnoticed.These viruses
creep in unawares,through your feelings and emotions.They
become part of your programming.They stop you from doing
many of the things you should be doing.
The best way to get rid of these viruses is to reprogram
your mind.You have to deliberately change the way you think.
Also,you must change the words you use.For your actions follow
your thoughts and words.You may not do everything you think,but
you think everything you do.Therefore,you must learn to direct
your thoughts.
You don't have to entertain every thought that comes into your
mind(head).Try to eliminate those thoughts that aren't positive.
